It was evident that the culture being fostered was one that adhered to the motto “the floggings shall continue until morale improves.” The outcome was self-evident; a mass exodus occurred, with all remaining staff in the video department resigning. They were soon joined by a majority of staff writers, and the list of resignations continues to grow.

Could The Escapist have avoided this outcome? Without question.

This is an actively unfolding case study in how culture and communication can make or break an organization.
